Kids these days

Maybe I’m just getting old, but lately every article I read about college students makes me want to punch myself. Especially this one, about straight girls kissing each other. (It’s Salon, so you have to watch the ad for the free day pass, but trust me, it’s so hilariously infuriating it’s worth it.)

Just one choice quote of many: “‘I think it’s empowering to these girls,’ Jay says. ‘Immediately after, guys come up and are like, Do you want to do that with me?’”

I’m a fan of this gem:

“[It] makes him think you’re better to sleep with than the 100 other girls in the room with you.”

Totally. Also this one, from “Mikey”:

“I definitely got the idea from ‘Girls Gone Wild. … I was like, Hey, why don’t you make out? And then they started to! I was like, oh, damn, they’re awesome … I told them that made them 10 times cooler.”

This is what I learned in high school: When you kiss a girl at a party, the guys love you. When you leave to go make out with said girl in the bathroom of said party, they suddenly hate you.

I have always defined “empowered female” as “a girl who compromises her values by doing whatever a guy tells her to do in order to make the guy want to fuck her instead of her best friend/slutty rival.”

I’m glad that society is finally catching up to my definition. If only Gloria Steinem had made out with more girls (in front of boys, that is), she would have gotten more deep dickin’, and obviously would not have been so uptight.

i mean it is about time that “heteroflexibility” sweeps the nation. we really should be pushing in a new direction what with all these other desire based questions about sexuality totally answered it’s time for undesired sexuality for the sake of onlookers to catch fire.

There’s a great book I read called Feminist Chauvinist Pigs that address this very same topic. In it, the author (she’s some big deal columnist for The New Yorker) gives countless examples from pop culture of how women have been lead to think they’re “empowering” themselves through embracing this ridicu-fucking-lous idea that porn and Girls Gone Wild exhibitionism is actually all about raising the “status” of women, rather than being about pleasing men (um, which it is).

Yes, but what about flashing their breasts at us? That’s okay, right?

Guys never wanted to get with me when I made out with a girl at parties. I don’t know why – Mom’s one sexy woman!
