Library science
Yesterday I rode my bike down to the grand re-opening of the Minneapolis Central Library.
It was explosion of municipal goodwill.
The building looks like The Future. I’ve never been so happy to be a taxpayer.

Wraaaaaaps!
I wonder how long it will take before my Library Buildings class hears about the pitfalls of the library. All that open space – echoy? All that glass – hot from the western sun?

That’s just the mezzanine/entryway, or whatever it’s called. The reading areas and the stacks are sequestered away in good old-fashioned carpeted darkness. I just didn’t take pictures of that because it doesn’t look like The Future.

I’ve read reviews of that building, and it sounds so sweet. I have to see it one of these days. Our new Des Moines building is fantastic, but it does not compare to what I’ve read about in Minneapolis.
Enjoy, Jake.

My friend Amy curated the art show that’s up there now. Didja see it?

It looks nice. Once we all have the entirety of the world’s knowledge implanted in our brain stems and we each have our own personal cyborg reference libraritron, it will make a dope nightclub.
