A few days ago, Lifehacker linked to a guy who’s “modded” his iPod so that the front panel is made entirely of redwood. He carved it all himself, including a wooden touchwheel, and amazingly, it still works (or so he claims).

You know what I say to that? Bring it on!

So, I set about designing my own iPod “mod” that, if I do say so myself, kicks the everliving crapshitting shit out of his hoity-toity redwood iPod. Even better, I did it on the cheap and it only took me a little bit of elbow grease, know-how, and twenty minutes. Voila! My new, one-of-a-kind, mixed-media iPod!

Best of all, you can do it too! All you need is an iPod, some basic tools, a junk drawer, and $300 for a new iPod.
