Bachman Turner Hyperdrive
I have the song “Taking [Takin'?] Care of Business” in my head because that’s precisely what I’ve been doing all morning. Paying rent, signing up for this shit, contesting a parking ticket, and registering for my fall classes: a literature survey, a teaching practicum, and a workshop with the woman whose book is listed immediately to the right. I also have a lead on an apartment with another MFA student, located in Minneapolis’ Nordeast neighborhood. It’s called Nordeast because that’s what it sounds like when people with a Minnesota accent say “north east.” It might take me a while to acclimate to that. I’m open to any further advice, from anyone familiar with the Twin Cities, regarding the neighborhoods, housing, the proper enjoyment of large spoon-and-cherry sculptures, and colloquial neighborhood appellations.
Update: I also created a group blog for the Infinite Jest book club that I just started with Jason, Sonya, and Joe. If one would like to geek out with us, one should let us know.

Not anymore; he lives in California and teaches at one of the UC branches. I’ve also heard he’s not a very good teacher … I knew there had to be a catch.
