Rest of the day off
Oh, .
My day off yesterday went something like this:
I woke up around ten-thirty and spent a liesurely couple of hours drinking coffee and listening to music. I had an appointment in Lincoln Park, so I left the house around 12:15 and piloted the car northward. The first warm day of the year tends to cause people to go a bit overboard and thrust themselves out into the weather with the minimum amount of clothing possible. I found myself in the middle of DePaul during the lunch hour, and nosed my car through languid swarms of undergrads crossing the street as slowly as possible.
When I got back to my neighborhood, I fought off the desire to take a nap and instead went to the gym, which was virtually empty since most people were at work. It was kind of like being in the school building on a weekend. After working out, I immediately erased its effect by drinking a beer in front of the Pontiac. Dino walked by on his way home from work and I flagged him down.
The day ended with beers on the front stoop of my brother’s apartment. Walking to and from all these places, I mostly listened to Music Has The Right To Children. It’s the perfect springtime album and a surreal complement to the sci-fi magical realism of the book I’m reading now, .
