2. At Village Inn yesterday, my waitress asked me twice if I wanted pie with my meal. If they don’t offer you pie, you get your meal free. I wonder if Katie came up with that rule. PIE!

3. At Prairie Lights, I was waiting in line to buy a magazine when the woman at the register said to the customer in front of me, “I’ve got to be honest. You and I do not share the same taste in books.”

4. Wednesday night we played with Absinthe Blind. They were amazing. I’ve got to say, I’m jealous. I want to be in a band like Absinthe Blind. (Sorry, Dino. Um, Nolan rocks!) Everyone was smitten by the lead singer/keyboardist (she got plastered after the set while doing shots at the bar) and it doesn’t even seem odd or disingenuous when they thank Jesus in their liner notes. Their set was … well, I’m just going to go ahead and say it: their set was transcendent. I guess we’ll see them when we play Mike & Molly’s in Champaign next month.

5. I had a dream last night about the day care. Now I miss my kids. Especially Jacob, Leah, and Willie.
